Since 2002, we have been designing websites and creating branding for a multitude of clients. Since 2014, all work has been done by the founders of the company, Pete Ruane and Helen Corr. We don’t outsource any design or development tasks, so we have total control over the whole process from initial design enquiry to launch and beyond. We take pride in the fact that our clients stay with us after the initial project and have trusted us to develop their online presence over the years. Where we are
VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW…
We no longer live in Didsbury. We now live in Andalucia – the lure of sunshine was just too strong. However, our design company is still UK registered, we still pay UK taxes, we have a UK business bank account, and all of our clients are UK based, mostly still in Didsbury and Manchester. During the Covid period, we realised that our work was very suited to moving completely online, and since then we have not only retained the majority of our clients, but have also taken on new clients. So, although we may not be on the doorstep any longer, you’ll still have access to us, as much as you need. Within reason, we’re also not Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm operators. We know that things happen outside of these hours, and so we are on hand, if you need us. Although if it’s a Saturday, we may have come back from the beach…
How we work
We operate a very flexible way of working with our clients. There are only two of us. We no longer outsource any parts of the design process, so from initial contact to project sign-off, and hopefully well beyond, you will only ever deal with Pete (design) and Helen (client liaison). We do not insist on the signing of a formal contract at the start of the process – although if you feel more comfortable doing so, we can certainly offer this – because by the time work begins, everyone involved has a clear idea of the process and the basis of an excellent, trusting relationship will already have been formed.
Prior to any work commencing, we will have communicated with you a lot – email, phone calls, video calls – and you will be aware of start dates, what we will need from you and what we will deliver. We will always try and give an estimate of the time it will take to deliver your project, but it must be remembered that as we do not outsource, we may also be working on another project and timescales can move. However, you will always be informed of any changes which could shift dates significantly. In order to keep to agreed timescales as much as we can, when we have delivered ideas or designs to you, we request that feedback is provided in a timely way. We know that you will be very busy with your business, life etc and that you will obviously need the time to absorb what we have sent you, but if we need to chase feedback, in order to progress, this will inevitably delay the project.
Once the project and price have been agreed, prior to the design work (which will also include any research work) beginning, we require a deposit of 30% of the agreed price. The balance, along with the hosting fee, will be due once the project has been completed and signed off, and prior to launch.
Our fees
If it is necessary for We Are Life to carry out any administrative tasks on your behalf, which do not fall within the remit of our design and / or administrative work for clients, we reserve the right to charge an administration fee of £40. Work which becomes more involved and which has been initiated at your request, will be costed out accordingly. You will be notified of any additional costs, prior to us doing any further work. Works which fall under this admin fee include domain/hosting transfers, reinstating websites due to non-payment of hosting and other tasks which need to be carried out, at your request, and which involve dealing with an external third party. All administration fees must be paid PRIOR to any works, of this nature, being carried out by We Are Life.
Website hosting (which includes email hosting, if required) is £120 and is paid annually. This charge is non-negotiable. You will be invoiced in advance for hosting. Non-payment of hosting will result in your website being taken down until such time as this fee has paid. An additional admin fee of £45 will also be charged, if we have to take such action, before the website is reinstated. The hosting charge is non-refundable. Please be aware that if you decide to remove your hosting from us, during the 12 month period, we will be unable to refund on a pro-rata basis.
